Introducing two new designs
Hello everyone!
Hope you are all well and safe in this extended lockdown.
I am keeping busy with knitting, of course, new design releases and some cooking!
Today I published here and on Ravelry, a new pattern for children: it is called Taighean - Child Mittens and as some of you will immediately notice they match the Taighean adult fingerless mitts included in Colour Moves. As it is a playful design, I decided to use the same motif for children’s mittens in two sizes; a small size (2-4-year-old) and a large size (5-7-year-old).
‘Taighean’, which means ‘houses’ in Scots Gaelic, is based on a repetitive little house motif and uses numerous shade combinations. The small size uses seven shades, while the large size uses eight shades of Kate Davies Designs Milarrochy Tweed yarn. Each house row is in a different shade, in a sort of gradient and it is offset by half a motif from the previous row. With this design, I tried to give justice to my memories of colours seen during my past travels to Scotland.
The pattern instructions include, as a final finishing touch for your knitting work, a tutorial and two sets (sizes S and L) of templates to create your very own set of blockers for child mittens.
Recently I released a design for full finger gloves, called Before Winter. It is the pattern that I am giving as a bonus to who is purchasing Colour Moves. These gloves are based on a repetitive motif playing with three intertwining shades. The final warm tonal effect reminds me of a beautiful woodland around my birthplace, where I went years ago for a walk in a late autumn day.
Wish you all a Happy Easter despite the challenging times we are all experiencing.
